Gather up all your important papers and documents and put them in one box clearly marked. Set aside in an easy to access place so you can access easily before your move and after your move. Be sure and include:
Wills
Vehicle Titles
Birth Certificates
Marriage License
Insurance Records
Passports
Medical Records
Tax Records
Bills
Credit Card Records
Military Records
Bank Records
Stock Records
Make sure the box stands out in some way so that you’ll be able to find it easily upon arrival at your new place.
Packing Tips
For you, “pack-your-selfers”, here are some tips to help insure a safe journey for your belongings:
General
Put heavy items in small boxes and light items in larger boxes. Box weight should not exceed 50 lbs.
Pack breakables loosely with lots of bubble wrap.
Rent furniture pads to avoid scratches and damage if you are moving yourself.
Mark your boxes by room so you and the Movers will know exactly where each box should go.
Write “FRAGILE” in big bold letters on breakables and keep separately or on top of other boxes.
Largest Items
Appliances: Empty and defrost the refrigerator and freezer. Clean and pack moveable parts.
Beds: If you are responsible for breaking down the beds. Tie bed frames together with tape and label the pieces so they will be easy to reassemble.
Bureaus: You may leave clothes in drawers unless otherwise specified by your Mover.
